Exhausted! A Good Feeling!!
Yes, it feels good to be exhausted. Proof we got stuff accomplished today. Also proved by getting over 11,000 steps, with out thinking about it and not shopping a lot or being a tourist.
Things I am thankful for today, in random order:
- both kids gone for a couple hours tonight
- inexpensive mums
- beginnings of fall decorating
- impulse purchase
- TV not on, at all, today
- ACTs completed for oldest

Labor Day Musing
Breaking away from my days of the week titles; change is a good thing, right?
Randomness of the day: Kid wakes up later than usual, stumbles down stairs, and asks what is the plan for school. Dude, it is a holiday! He perked up and had a renewed sense of energy. Oldest was able to attend a "Seniors Hike"; he was thankful to be able to go! Husband was more than happy to grilled meat, for the second night in a row!
My joy and thankfulness goes more like this:
- sunshine again today
- bacon, cheeseburger for dinner
- walks around the neighborhood
- homemade vanilla ice cream
- minimal driving
- working on "Welcome" sign again

I am starting to see a trend! When I dont have a lot of chitter chatter, before my thankful list, I am plugging in the spday of the week. There wasnt anything profound or aha moments today, just life and it was mostly enjoyable.

Hello September!
Do you decorate for fall? Is September 1 the day you start bring all things Fall out? Or do you wait until September 20?
I haven't fully started decorating for fall. Made a trip to the Dollar Tree the other day, as their artificial flowers and such are fairly descent sized and inexpensive. Swapped out my light blue and lavender hydrangea for a fall orange color. That is as far as I've gotten. More on another day.
The fun and good for the day:
- Kevin came home early, to beat Friday of Labor Day Weekend traffic
- new fitbit came in the mail
- temps hovered around 65 degrees today
- bought a Take & Bake for dinner (easy Friday Pizza)
- lots of vegging on a dreary day
- fall colored hydrangea

August is a Wrap!
and brings the mental end of summer. All in all, not a bad month; ups and downs; good with the bad. Which brings me to a quick list for the last day.
With that, I can say:
- air conditioning (just warm enough that I appreciate it, in the house and van)
- free hair cut
- cheesy tomato tortollini
- getting caught up on Sky Scarf
- catching up with friends
With that, I can say:
Goodbye August

Big Exhale!
Moon in our back yard! |
Neglecting various aspects, has not been good for me. Bare with me, as I work to get back into a healthy routine.
The quick, thankful updates:
- All high-school year is going well so far. Oldest is a senior while youngest is a freshman.
- Made it through the purchase of a new car without to much stress (finances are a trigger for me).
- Made it through the busiest summer yet!
- Son recieved accomodations for ACT's, the first time around.
- Working on getting caught up on my sky scarf. Earlier this month, tore it almost completely out because the side I carry up the extra yarn looked horrible. I am now back into July.
- Boys are learning life skills around the house. Will miss this terribly when they are gone!
- Solar Eclipse, the other day was cool. Even got to borrow glasses from neighbors.
For now, hope your day is joyful!

Twenty Turns Around the Sun
Today, Kevin and I celebrated 20 years of mairrage. Rather low key! No fancy meals or flowers or getting all "dolled up"! He worked from home, as he usually does on Tuesdays; I attended to some chores; kept boys focused on school; we ate chocolate; leftovers for lunch. Low key!
Suppose I'd been "milking" the anniversary for days. Out for coffee one day, dinner out when it was convinient, walks here and there, trip to Occoquan (more for me than him). Still a nice day, despite the rain. That didn't even make the day gray. 20 years ago, it rained all day, it seemed. The gray today, reminded me of 1997. LOL! No trip to 7/11 for cold drinks, in the tuxedo and dress though. That was funny!
Thankfulness, in all seriousness, is a touch easier today:

Blogging Thankfulness
Coming here to blog my thankfulness is getting harder and harder. Not so much that I am not trying to be mindful of it all, it is becoming one more thing to check off ~done, complete, etc. Probably need to leave my lovely planner open, to make it easier to note the joyful and lovely things. It has space for that each and every day. Hopefully tomorrow!
How do you note your thankful things? Do you have lists and journals all over the place? Is it one book? A planner? A space on the WWW?
Today has been an average day. No one thing that was overwhelming great or bad! It goes something like this:

Saturdays
What are Saturdays like for you? Sports, cartoons, cleaning, grilling, yard work, errands! That seems to sum up saturdays of my youth and today as well!
Today wasn't much different. Divide and conquer for Kevin and me. We ended the day with a date, so that was good! Here's the rest:

Warmth, Messiness, A Beautiful Life
It was a day of noise, of messiness, of 70 degree weather, of windows open, of Spring in the air, of noise, of silence. All summed up, a day of beauty. A hard day, definitely; a day of learning, of getting it done, of letting it go, yet still beautiful.
Saw glimmers of what it would be like having a larger family, at least for a few hours. Saw the personalities in children and "rolled" with each unique one. Thankfulness throughout the day. Reminders of how quickly time flies; how moments drag on. Greatful for bedtimes and the hope of doing it al again tomorrow.

Warm Weather . . . .
while waiting for snow. Seen the possiblity for Winter weather on Thursday! Truly hope it is for "real"! We are due and we are ready. In the mean time, has been nice to air out the house, get the plants out on the deck for a bit of time, dog sunning outside.
- warm weather
- slow morning
- supplies for crafting magnets
- candles, both real (soy based) and battery operated
- overall good feeling all day long
- pulling out the duct tape
Pink Duct Tape to mend a school folder.
Yes, it might be cheapr to use new one, but the
tape adds a pop of color!
Plant in green pot is a butterfly bush I saved and bringing
back to life. Hope it will grow rather large over the spring and summer.
In the plan pot are clover and in the blue is my Rosemary bush.

January - Months End
Many ideas run through my head, for a months end post. Things
accomplished, books read, things made, and on it would go. This
particular January feels like I have just been getting a handle on 2017.
Mentally taking notes on loose goals, things I'd like to do or see,
books I'd like to read, where I'd like to see the boys education to be.
Nothing of great consequence to note.
Even so, the good things from today would be:

Snow! And it was pretty!
We got measurable snow overnight; albeit, not a whole lot, couple inches or so. Out the back of our house it looked beautiful. The house backs up to acres of park land. At times, would be nice if it were our land, but other times it is nice that it belongs to someone else.
- measurable snow
- wood brought it for a fire
- clear roads
- ideas for warm dinner
- thankful for days end
Backyard, early morning.
Just before a good shake.
The colors are cool looking!
This was called, "Melty Dog".

Another Photo Kind of Day
Been a pretty good day. Another windy day, but not as bad as a few days ago. Getting out for a walk kind of day. Sunshine, and shorts, and sunglasses, and hanging out on the deck sort of day.

What is blue and yellow?
The sky!!!!!!!!!! At least for a portion of the day. It did get gray during the middle of the afternoon but cleared up to show off a beautiful sunset. Felt good to see the sky.
Thanksgivingn for the day:
Know I promised the sky scarf today. I wasn't able to fully catch up and decided to rip it out and start again. Weaving the yarn, up the side, is a new skill for me and I'm trying to get it looking nice. Soon is all I can promise at this point.

A Blustery Day!
A blustery and rainy day. Windy enough to move the outside furniture or knock them over. We survived. Looked forward to around dinner time when we start closing up the curtains for the day; wanted an end to the cold, rain, and dark.
As a total side note, the slowness of the day and lack of weekly meal planning meant last minute thawing of meat. Have found that once the meat is a little thawed, it can be cut down into smaller chunks, which cooks and breaks up easily. Cooking save & kitchen hack!

- falling asleep to Screwtape Letters

Beautiful Slowness
That was today, from my take. Could be considered quite busy from family members.
The afternoon calendar wide open, nothing pressing, no special meals planned.
I'm behind on my sky scarf! Been noting the sky but the yarn was getting tangled pretty bad, so I ripped out the first week and have not caught up with the knitting. Hope to get two weeks knit before the endo of this week.

Wintery Saturdays
Second Saturday of 2017! We were due for more winter weather today, again, in the form of freezing rain and it making the roads slick. Thank goodness it passed us by. Something to be thankful for. To appreciate. Still did have activities canceled, but that allowed more time at home. Another blessing!
Counting it all Joy:

Celebrations and Milestones
Our oldest turned 17 today; we took the time to celebrate him. Lots and lots of food. A trip to the Lego Store. A trip to 5 Guys. A trip to Chick-fil-A. To top it all off mozerella sticks and pizza for dinner and an oreo ice cream cake for dessert. Can't forget about the chocolate croissants for breakfast.
Tones of food today. To much food.
He enjoyed the day though. Birthday wishes through several social media venues, a birthday card in the mail, being sung to to (wheather he wanted it or not).
The gratitude for the day:

Another Day!
Has come and gone! Suppose it could be called a good day. A lot of recipe reading, questions, suggestions, sleeping, school, and just life type stuff. Not sure why it seems so hard to come up with a gratitude list; we really do lead a pretty good life.
Here's my take on the day:
Here's my take on the day:

Midweek, already?
The week feels quick! The week also feels incredibly slow. Spuradic back pain will do that. The moments you feel okay go quickly; then the intense pain comes back and life slows down to a snails pace. Such a mix of feelings and sensations!
Wednesday, the 11th of January comes to a close though. Life is still good. Life is sleepy at this point. A yearning for deep rest, good rest, restorative rest. Before sleep fully overtakes me, here's my list:

Finding the Joy
Another gray day. Nothing like my "sky scarf" to make me more aware of how many gray days we've had. C'est la vie!!
Maybe early in the day, but gratitude has come easily today. May come back to add more later. For today, about 11 AM, it goes like this:

Felt like a long day! Thankful there was some blue, because overall, it felt kinda gray both visually and emotionally. Still there was good!
See you tomorrow.

- dinner together
- finding versus I'd been meaning to look up
See you tomorrow.
